Generic Breo Ellipta 200 / 25mcg Octacaps with Octahaler contains two active ingredients: fluticasone and vilanterol. This medication is primarily used for the management of symptoms associated with asthma and COPD, including emphysema and chronic bronchitis, such as wheezing and trouble breathing. It is prescribed for both children and adults.
Both of its active ingredients are associated with different drug classes and function differently. For instance, one of its primary active ingredients, named fluticasone, comes from the drug class known as corticosteroid and functions to diminish the swelling of the airways in order to improve breathing. On the other hand, another active ingredient named vilanterol comes under the drug class called long-acting agonists, which works by soothing the muscles of the airways to dilate them in order to make breathing easier.
In addition to the above, this combination of medications should not be utilized to address sudden asthma attacks. If you come across a sudden asthma attack, please use your quick-relief inhaler.
