    Neurontin is an anti-epileptic medication, also called an anticonvulsant. You may have increased seizures if you stop taking Neurontin suddenly. You will need to use less and less before you stop the medication completely.rnrnContact your doctor if your seizures get worse or you have them more often while taking Neurontin.rnrnCarry an ID card or wear a medical alert bracelet stating that you are taking Neurontin, in case of emergency. Any doctor, dentist, or emergency medical care provider who treats you should know that you are taking a seizure medication.

    Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction to Neurontin: hives; fever; swollen glands; painful sores in or around your eyes or mouth; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.rnrnCall your doctor at once if you have any new or worsening symptoms such as: mood or behavior changes, depression, anxiety, or if you feel agitated, hostile, restless, hyperactive (mentally or physically), or have thoughts about suicide or hurting yourself.rnrnCall your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:rn rn increased seizures;rn rn fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms;rn rn swelling of your ankles or feet;rn rn confusion;rn rn rapid back and forth movement of your eyes;rn rn tremor; orrn rn easy bruising.rnrnSome side effects are more likely in children taking Neurontin. Contact your doctor if the child taking this medication has any of the following side effects:rn rn changes in behavior;rn rn memory problems;rn rn trouble concentrating; orrn rn acting restless, hostile, or aggressive.rnrnLess serious Neurontin side effects may include:rn rn dizziness, drowsiness, weakness, tired feeling;rn rn lack of coordination;rn rn blurred vision;rn rn nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, loss of appetite;rn rn diarrhea, constipation;rn rn dry mouth;rn rn runny or stuffy nose, sore throat;rn rn headache;rn rn sleep problems (insomnia), unusual dreams; orrn rn acne, mild skin rash.

    Take Neurontin exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label.rnrnNeurontin can be taken with or without food.rnrnIf you break a tablet and take one half of it, take the other half at your next dose.
