Generic Gilenya 0.5mg Capsule has fingolimod as an active ingredient, which belongs to the drug class known as sphingosine l-phosphate receptor modulators. It is used for the management of multiple sclerosis, a condition wherein the immune system starts attacking and damaging the protective coating around nerve cells, affecting brain-body coordination. You may have symptoms like fatigue, muscle weakness, trouble walking, etc. It is effective in treating the following relapsing form of MS:

• Clinically isolated syndrome (CIS)

• Active secondary progressive MS (SPMS)

• Relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS)

Side effecrs of Generic Gilenya 0.5mg Capsule are bifurcated into two categories: common and serious. Common side effects are generally not a cause for concern and usually fade on their own as soon as the body gets used to the medication. On the other hand, serious side effects are observed in rare instances. If you come across any, please let your doctor know immediately.

Common side effects:

• Headache

• Changes in liver function tests

• Sinus infections

• Back pain

• Stomach pain

• Diarrhea

• Cough

• Flu

• Pain in the arms or legs

Serious side effects:

Allergic reactions: Breathing problems or wheezing, racing heart, fever or general ill feeling, swollen lymph nodes, and swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat, trouble swallowing or throat tightness, itching or skin rash, bumps on the skin called hives, nausea or vomiting, dizziness, feeling lightheaded, fainting, stomach cramps, joint pain

Heart rate changes: Feeling lightheaded, dizziness, fainting, confusion, feeling weak or easily tired, chest pain, shortness of breath, feeling your heart beat slower or skipping a beat

Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy: Clumsiness, loss of coordination, balance problems, decreased strength, difficulty walking or speaking, facial drooping, vision problems, thinking, memory, or personality changes, confusion

• Don’t take fingolimod capsules until they have been prescribed to you.

• It shouldn’t be within the reach of pets, kids, and addicts.

• You will be requested to undergo blood tests before and during the treatment.

• Don’t stop taking it without consulting your doctor, as fingolimod 0.5 mg capsules may result in the return of multiple sclerosis symptoms.
