This medication is a peripheral histamine antagonist (antihistamine) used to treat several allergic reactions such as a blocked or runny nose, sneezing, itchy, red, or watery eyes, and skin rashes. This medication works by binding to and preventing the activation of histamine receptors when mast cells (a type of white blood cell) break down to form histamine during an allergic reaction.
